Falcons fall in final home match

The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team dropped its final home match of the season April 6 against Clayton State University.

The Peach Belt Conference match marked the final home match for three seniors, including Kodi Bobo, Hayley Gant and Calli Robinson.

The Falcons (4-18 overall, 0-12 in Peach Belt Conference) fell in all six singles’ matches and all three doubles’ matches against Clayton State, which entered the match ranked No. 12 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s NCAA Division II poll.

Bobo and Robinson led the way for Montevallo with the most single game wins.

Bobo won five games in the No. 4 singles’ match before falling 6-2, 6-3. Robinson won four games before falling 6-0, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles’ match. Amy McGucken was the only other Falcon with more than one win as she fell 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 5 singles’ match.

The Falcons close out the 2011 season as they travel to Pensacola, Fla., to take on Florida Southern College in a neutral-site match on Sunday, April 10 at 8:30 a.m.
