The Vincent High School softball team fell to Isabella 7-4 in high school softball action April 7.

The Yellow Jackets scored a run in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at 2-2 before Isabella clinched the victory with five runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Morgan O’Steen led Vincent at the plate as she finished 2-for-4 with a double and drove in a run.

Courtney Barber finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and drove in a run.

Courtney Holston took the loss in the circle despite not giving up an earned run. Holston struck out five batters in a complete game.

Vincent coach Amy Hawk praised Amber Shaw, Destanie Howard, Courtney Barber, Courtney Perry and Ashlynn Melton for their play defensively.

“We made a few key errors in the fourth inning with two outs that cost us the game,” Hawk said. “Unfortunately, with six middle school students starting on the varsity team, those mistakes will happen. The great thing about these girls is that they come ready to work and learn everyday, and as a result, we are improving each game.”
