Oak Mountain defeats Thompson in area contest

The Oak Mountain High School baseball team defeated Thompson 9-3 in a Class 6A, Area 10 contest April 12.
Jake Hubbard led the Eagles (17-12 overall, 3-2 in Class 6A, Area 10) at the plate as he finished 3-for-4 with a double. Hubbard drove in three runs in the victory.
Connor Pinegar finished 3-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs. David Dahl finished 1-for-2 at the plate and scored a run.
Hubbard earned the win on the mound after giving up two earned runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and seven walks in five innings. Pinegar pitched the final two innings.
Chad Collum led Thompson (22-13 overall, 2-3 in Class 6A, Area 10) at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with a double and drove in a run.
Alex Henderson also finished 2-for-3 with a double and drove in a run. Matt Haskins finished 1-for-3 with a triple and drove in a run.
Gus Williford, Conner Gill and Austin Carter scored one run each.
Mason Morris started on the mound and gave up two unearned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and three walks in five innings.
Jonathan Keller took the loss in relief after giving up two earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks in 1 2/3 innings. Alex Henderson recorded the final out with a strikeout.
