Pelham softball unbeaten in tournament

The Pelham High School softball team finished undefeated in its round-robin tournament April 16.

The Panthers (19-8) defeated Homewood 10-0 in the tournament.

Lindsey Pyle led Pelham at the plate with a two-run homer and a single.

Mary Morgan Dramer and Heather McGuirk finished with two hits each. Kristian Foster and Erin Whitman, who had one hit each, drove in two runs each. Emily Spain and Jennifer Davis each had an RBI single.

Davis earned the win in the circle after giving up just one hit with nine strikeouts in a five-inning complete game.

Pelham defeated Central-Phenix City 2-1 in the tournament.

Jessie Breland led the Panthers at the plate as she drove in both runs in the victory.

Whitman finished with two singles. McGuirk, who scored the go-ahead run, had one single.

Spain earned the win in the circle after giving up just two hits with four strikeouts and a walk in a complete game.

The Panthers defeated Calera 12-1.

Whitman led Pelham at the plate with a triple and a double.

Foster finished with two doubles.

Becky Fox earned the win in the circle after giving up one run on just two hits.

Jocelyn Davis led Calera with a home run in the defeat. Shelby Clark finished with a single.
