Coosa Valley sweeps Bessemer Academy in softball doubleheader

The Coosa Valley Academy softball team swept Bessemer Academy in high school softball action.

The Rebels defeated Bessemer Academy 9-5 in the opener and 11-5 in the nightcap.

In game one, Hannah Vick was in the circle for seven innings and recorded  four strikeouts. Coosa Valley was led at the plate by Kaylan Rich and Shelby Hurt, who went 2-for-4 each. Hannah Vick finished 3-for-5. Katelyn Bierely also added a hit.
In game two, Hope Myrick got the win in the circle after pitching two innings. Alyssa Holmes and Hurt pitched one inning each in relief.

At the plate, the Rebels were led at the plate by Kala Shaw and Vick, who were both 2-for-3 at the plate. Bierely, Amelia Ripley,Rich, Hurt, Myrick and Hannah Heath all added hits for the Rebels.

Coosa Valley defeated Autauga Academy 9-5 in extra innings April 21.

Vick went the distance in the circle for nine innings with three strikeouts.

Coosa Valley was led by Shaw, who went 3-for-4 at the plate. Ripley finished 2-for-4. Vick was 2-for-5 at the plate. Shelby Hurt added a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh inning that drove in two runs and tied the game at 5-5.

Bierely, Myrick, Rich, and Sky Brasher all added hits.
