Hope Christian softball completes sweep of Evangel Christian

The Hope Christian School softball team completed a sweep of rival Evangel Christian in regular season play following a 15-2 win over the Lightning in high school softball action April 21.

The Eagles, who fell behind to Evangel Christian 2-1 after the first inning, scored nine runs in the top of the sixth inning to clinch the victory.

Ashleigh Callahan led Hope Christian (14-5-1) at the plate as she finished 3-for-5 with a double. Callahan drove in one run and scored two runs in the victory. Lindy Walker, who drove in one run and scored two runs, also finished 3-for-5 at the plate.

Megan Mahan went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and drove in one run. Amanda Rowley, who drove in three runs and scored one run, finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple. Tiffany Skinner, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Layla Skinner, who drove in five runs and scored two runs, finished 2-for-5 with a double. Ashley Vann went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and scored three runs.

Samantha Rowley, who finished 1-for-3 at the plate, drove in two runs and scored one run. Ani Hughes and Hannah Rettig went 1-for-2 at the plate and scored one run each.

Vann earned the win in the circle after giving up three earned runs on two hits with 11 strikeouts and five walks in a complete game.
