The Briarwood Christian School baseball team is headed to the second round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A playoffs following a 11-4 win over Pleasant Grove in the deciding third game in its first-round series.

The Lions (17-9) jumped out to a 4-0 lead with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Briarwood Christian plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to clinch the victory.

Briarwood Christian will travel to Hueytown in the second round of the AHSAA Class 5A playoffs April 29-30.

Daniel Robert led Briarwood Christian as he blasted his third home run in the series. Robert, who drove in two runs and scored three runs, finished 2-for-4 at the plate.

Logan Crook, who drove in two runs and scored one run, finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Cole Pearson, who finished 2-for-4 at the plate, drove in two runs and scored one run.

Micah Hooper finished 1-for-3 at the plate.

Robert earned the win on the mound after giving up one run on two hits with two strikeouts in three innings. Hooper allowed three runs on three hits with three strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings.
