WILTON – The citizens of Wilton are hoping to help storm victims through day trips to Tuscaloosa next week.

“We think we can be best utilized next week, because they’re still in search-and-rescue mode right now,” Wilton Town Clerk April Price said. “We want to do anything we can do to help them. We’re taking up water, clothing, toiletries, diaper wipes, diapers and cereal. I asked the city clerk of Tuscaloosa what they need, and she told me anything I could imagine.”

Price said the tentative plan is to leave Wilton Town Hall at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, May 2.

“We’re going to meet for day trips because we’re so close,” she said. “The people over there need the hotel rooms and the people from out of state need the hotel rooms.”

Donations are being collected at Wilton’s community center located behind the town hall. Price said to leave any donations under the covered porch over the weekend, and the volunteers will take the supplies to Tuscaloosa on Monday.
