The Kingwood Christian School softball team swept Marengo Academy and Patrician Academy in a high school softball doubleheader April 30.

The Lions (41-2) defeated Marengo Academy 5-1 in the first game.

Whitney Gillespie led Kingwood Christian at the plate as she finished 2-for-4 with a home run. Gillespie drove in three runs in the victory.

Erin Jones and Jordan Gray finished with two hits each.

Gillespie ran her record in the circle to 22-0 after striking out 10 batters in a complete game.

The Lions topped Patrician Academy 4-0 in the second game.

Karley Chamblee led the Lions at the plate as she finished 2-for-4 and scored one run.

Gillespie went 3-for-4 with a homer. Kaylyn Ingram finished with two hits in the victory.

Madeline Lee earned the win in the circle after striking out seven batters in six scoreless innings. Ingram pitched one inning of perfect relief.
