Montevallo falls to Northside in area softball tournament

The Montevallo High School softball team fell to Northside 12-2 in the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 3A, Area 7 softball tournament May 5.

Destiny Upton and Mallory Anderson each had one hit and one RBI to plate Montevallo’s two runs in the defeat.

Kaley Kornegay took the loss in the circle after giving up three runs on two hits with two strikeouts and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.

The Bulldogs defeated Hale County 4-1 in the tournament.

Destiny Upton went the distance in the circle to earn the win, surrendering just four hits and striking out three.

Savannah Upton and Madison Fancher had two hits apiece to lead the Bulldogs.

Montevallo also lost to Hale County 11-8 in the tournament.

Anderson took the loss in the circle. Kornegay collected three hits to pace Montevallo’s 16-hit attack.

Montevallo finished the season at 16-15, it’s 11th consecutive winning season in softball.
