The Thompson High School softball team defeated Hoover twice May 7 to capture the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 10 softball tournament championship.

Thompson clinched the title with a 5-4 win over the Buccaneers. Jordan Swindle blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead the Warriors to the title.

Ashleigh Short finished with two hits in the title game.

Rachel Rigney earned the win in the circle after giving up four earned runs on six hits with seven strikeouts in a complete game.
