Warriors eliminated in region tournament semifinals

The Thompson High School softball team was eliminated in the semifinal round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A North Central Region tournament May 14 following a 5-0 loss to Tuscaloosa County at Liberty Park in Vestavia Hills.
The loss came on the heels of a 5-0 loss to Hoover and knocked the Warriors out of the double-elimination tournament.
Thompson won its first two games in the tournament. The Warriors defeated Minor 12-2 in their opening game before topping Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 14-5 in the second round.
The Warriors racked up 15 hits in the 14-5 win over Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa.
Marly Terrell led Thompson at the plate with five hits, including two homers. Terrell drove in six runs in the victory.
Rebecca Victory finished with four hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Sarah Beth Holdbrooks added three hits, including a homer and a double, and drove in two runs.
Rachel Rigney earned the win in the circle after giving up five hits with six strikeouts.
