COLUMBIANA – A Birmingham-based production company is in Columbiana this week shooting two commercials for an insurance company.

The two 30-second spots for Alfa Insurance will begin airing next week, according to Jeff Helms, director of public relations and communications for the Alabama-based insurance company.

On Monday morning, scenes were shot from two locations: an Alfa insurance office on S. Main Street and the Mid-State Farmer’s Co-op on Alabama 70.

The crew is scheduled to shoot at a local ball field later Monday afternoon, and at a local farm on Tuesday, Helms said.

Birmingham’s Sunspot Productions is shooting the commercials, which includes some local talent.

“The town of Columbiana is a beautiful town,” Helms said. “The authorities here in town have been very cooperative and been willing to work with us. There are diverse scenes that can be shot in this area close by, ranging from very rural scenes to more urban settings.”

Alfa Insurance operates in 12 states, and has offices in all 67 Alabama counties.
