Falcons to host first ever cross country meet in 2011

The University of Montevallo men’s and women’s cross country teams will host their first home meet in program history to kick off the 2011 season.
Montevallo will also travel to both North Carolina and South Carolina for a pair of races.
The Falcons open up the 2011 season at home in the Montevallo Early Bird Classic on Saturday, Sept. 3. The women’s race will begin at 8 a.m., while the men begin at 8:30 a.m.
The Falcons’ home course is located across the creek adjacent to the intramural fields. The Montevallo Early Bird Classic will feature a number of NCAA Division I and Division II programs, as well as a high school and middle school race. The high school races will begin at 9 a.m. and 9:40 a.m., while the middle school groups will race at 10:20 a.m. and 11 a.m. Details on the collegiate field will be released as they become available.
Montevallo will travel to the site of the 2011 Peach Belt Conference Championships on Saturday, Sept. 17 to race in the Bridgestone-Pacer Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina at Aiken. The men begin at 8 a.m. central time, while the women take to the course at 8:45 a.m.
The next stop will be the Queens University of Charlotte-Royal Cross Country Challenge on Friday, Oct. 14. The Falcons will look to add one more regular season race to their schedule as the season approaches.
The final two races on the schedule are the Peach Belt Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 22 in Aiken, S.C. and the NCAA Southeast Region Championships on Saturday, Nov. 5 in Charlotte, N.C.
