Shelby County standouts wrap up all-star week

Pelham High School rising senior Porsha Tolbert and Oak Mountain High School rising senior Sara Goodwin suited up for the South in an all-star volleyball game, while recent Briarwood Christian School graduate Caleb Ward participated for the North squad in the all-star football game July 14 that wrapped up the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s All-Star Sports Week in Montgomery.
Tolbert and Goodwin recorded one kill each as the South fell to the North 25-17, 25-14, 25-14 in the all-star volleyball contest on the campus of Faulkner University.
Tolbert also had three digs in the match. Goodwin finished with three digs and recorded one block for the South team.
Ward played as a reserve defensive end for the North team in the all-star football game at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery. The North fell to the South 37-33 in the all-star contest.
Ward finished with two tackles, one assist and one solo, including one for a loss in the game. Ward also forced a fumble in the game.
