FROM STAFF REPORTS

The University of Montevallo athletic department, in conjunction with the university’s mass communications department, has announced it will begin selling copies of the Falcons’ baseball doubleheader April 2 with Augusta State University during the 2011 season.

The Falcons notched a pair of victories against the Jaguars, a Peach Belt Conference foe, that afternoon.

In the first game of the doubleheader, senior Kyle Butler pitched six innings and allowed just one run and struck out seven batters in the Falcons’ 5-4 win over Augusta State. Junior Chris Ross, a Pelham High School graduate, went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs. Sophomore Austin Dubberly, who is also a Pelham High School graduate, scored two runs in the victory.

In the second contest, junior Blaine Rosenberg, an Oak Mountain High School graduate, and freshman Will Fulmer drove in two runs each in Montevallo’s 11-5 win over the Jaguars. Ross finished 4-for-5 at the plate in the victory. Eight Montevallo starters had at least one hit in the game. Freshman Alex Guilford and senior Joey Noro combined for seven innings on the mound and gave up just one earned run.

The two games are on a two-DVD set and feature play-by-play from Montevallo graduate Arky Shea. The cost is $20, which includes shipping and handling.
