MONTEVALLO – Vintage hotrods and muscle cars will roll into Orr Park on Sept. 3 for the 10th annual Cars by the Creek Car Show.

“There will be muscle cars and a variety of different vehicles,” show coordinator Steve Gilbert said. “It’s an open show to the public. There will be cars from car enthusiasts around central Alabama. We had over 75 cars last year.”

In addition to classic cars, the show will have food vendors and a free kids’ activity area with a Games2U mobile trailer, giant hamster balls and laser tag.

“The kids can get in (the Games2U unit) and play the latest video games,” Gilbert said. “Outside, they will set up laser tag, and have giant hamster balls. There’s no charge for the kids to play.”

The kids’ area will also offer a coloring contest in conjunction with the Montevallo Arts Council.

“As part of the children’s activity, we have a coloring contest for children ages 6 to ten. It’s automotive themed,” Gilbert said. “A page comes out of the coloring book, and (the kids will) be asked to color at the location. Trophies will be given for first and second place. Each participant will get a 40-page coloring book.”

Gilbert said the show, which will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., is a community event for the whole family.

“It’s a great opportunity to spend an opportunity in the park with your family and see some really nice classic, vintage cars,” he said.

Vehicle registration will be open until the morning of the show. Registration costs $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show. Forms are available at Cgsevents.com. For more information, visit Facebook.com/carsbythecreekshow.
