The Evangel Christian School football team defeated Shiloh Hills Christian 46-0 in eight-man football action Aug. 26.
Sophomore Nate Scott rushed for two touchdowns and passed for one more score to help the Lightning improve to 2-0 on the season.
Scott put the Lightning on the scoreboard with 6:21 remaining in the opening quarter with his 1-yard touchdown run. Scott completed a pass to Grant Webster for the two-point conversion.
Scott added a second rushing touchdown, on a 20-yard run, with 1:49 left in the first quarter. Scott completed a pass to Aaron Walker for the two-point conversion.
Scott threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Clay O’Neal one minute into the second quarter. Hayden Brown rushed in for the two-point conversion.
O’Neal returned a fumble 29 yards for a touchdown and Josh Flanders rushed in for the two-point conversion with 8:39 left in the first half to give the Lightning a 32-0 heading into the locker room at halftime.
Brown scored his first touchdown on a 45-yard run with 8:36 remaining in the third quarter. Charlie Bell added the extra point to give Evangel Christian a 39-0 lead.
Mason Murphy capped the scoring for the Lightning with his 48-yard touchdown pass to David Baggett with 4:50 left in the third quarter. Bell added his second extra point in the game.
