Buel Taft Sr., 72, of Montevallo passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2011. Mr. Taft was preceded in death by his father, Edward Taft, and mother, Velvie Owens; his son, Buel Taft Jr.; brother, Bobby Owens, and sister, Vera Nell Pate. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Taft; son, David Taft; daughters, Cindy Goolsby (Thomas); Sandra Taft Blair, all of Montevallo; daughter-in-law, Lisa Taft; brother, James Taft of Atlanta; sisters, Josie Castle (Randy) of Mobile and Kathy Holcombe (David) of Brierfield; grandchildren, Michelle Smith (Mark), Cristy Taft, Courtney Taft, Jessica Goolsby, Melissa Blair, Alanna Blair and Bubba Taft; and great-grandchildren, Savana and Brock Smith.

Visitation was held at Rockco Funeral Home, Montevallo, Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, from 1-2 p.m. Funeral services followed at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bobby Coston and Rev. Billy Coston officiating. Burial was in Montevallo City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Smith, Greg Smith, Eddie Smith, Bubba Taft, Justin Holcombe, Nathan Robertson, Ray Gaines and Clay Gaines.
