The Briarwood Christian School boys’ cross country team finished second in team standings Aug. 27 at the season-opening American Christian Academy Trail Run at Sokol Park in Tuscaloosa.

Sam Whorton led the Lions in individual standings. Whorton finished sixth overall after posting a time of 16:01.40.

Trey Long finished eighth in individual standings with his time of 16:18.60. Jared Long came in 11th in individual standings with his time of 16:48.60. Griffin Oaks finished 12th in individual standings with his time of 16:49.70.

John Carroll Catholic won the boys’ 5K race.

The Briarwood Christian girls’ team came in third in team standings in the girls’ 5K race.

Sarah Jane Thielman led the Lions with her fifth-place finish in individual standings after posting a time of 18:42.50 in the race.

Mallory Mathias finished seventh in individual standings with her time of 19:26.90.

Host American Christian won the girls’ 5K race.
