MONTEVALLO – The University of Montevallo recently named Chadd M. Adams chief of campus police within the university’s Department of Public Safety, according to a press release from the university. Adams served UM as assistant chief from June 2008 until being named acting chief in Nov. 2010.

Adams has served in law enforcement for nearly 15 years, the press release stated. For four years, he led and managed training courses for contractors to the Department of Homeland Security, teaching law enforcement techniques, as well as tactics and procedures related to weapons of mass destruction, the release stated.

Adams graduated from the Northeast Alabama Police Academy, where he was nominated for the Director’s Award by his instructors and received certification as an Emergency Medical Technician II. He has pursued a bachelor’s degree in security administration and law enforcement at Jacksonville State University and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration at Columbia Southern University.

“Chadd has shown exemplary service and loyalty to the university during his time here and has exhibited strong leadership as acting chief” said Dr. John W. Stewart, UM president in the press release. “His experience and professionalism will serve the UM community well.”
