Falcons move up in men’s soccer poll

The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team moved up six spots in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s NCAA Division II poll, which was released Sept. 8.
The Falcons (2-0) are ranked No. 13 in the nation and second in the Southeast Region. Montevallo began the season ranked No. 19 in the nation.
The Falcons took down Lees-McRae College, 1-0, in their opening game of the season. Lees-McRae is ranked eighth in the Southeast Region poll.
Montevallo then pulled out a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory over Milligan College to end the week.
The Falcons are one of just two Peach Belt Conference teams ranked in the top 25. Clayton State University is the only other Peach Belt Conference team in the top 25 at fifth. Flagler College began the season ranked No. 22, but dropped out after the opening week of play.
The Falcons return to action Sept. 9 as they travel to Flagler College for their first Peach Belt Conference contest. Despite dropping out of the national rankings Flagler is still ranked ninth in the most recent Southeast Region poll.
