PELHAM – Oak Mountain Community Church’s Sunday morning service Oct. 2 will look a bit different than the normal worship service. Bedecked with flowers, wedding paraphernalia and couples, the church will celebrate marriage by offering a free vow renewal service for the community.

“We had this idea that sometimes people get married and some of them in places other than in the church,” OMCC Pastor Geno Brown said, “or after years of marriage would like to renew those vows again. They can refresh those words they spoke to their husband or wife on that day. We want to give them the opportunity to do so.”

Brown said the church would be decorated like a “normal wedding service.” A reception will be held after the 10:30 a.m. service, and participating couples are welcome to invite their friends and family members to be a part of the celebration.

“We’ll give them a free 8-by-10 picture of them dressed up with anyone to stand with them on that day,” Brown said. “Many will have children and will want them to come and stand with them.”

A rehearsal will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28, prior to the Sunday celebration on Oct. 2. Brown said couples need to register before Sept. 28. For more information or to register, contact Pastor Geno Brown or Cheri Palmer at 663-7176.
