Eagles finish runner-up in tournament

The Calera High School volleyball team finished runner-up in a tournament Sept. 10 at Oak Grove High School.

The Eagles fell to Pinson Valley 21-25, 9-25 in the championship match.

A’Kia Harris led Calera with three kills in the title match. Elizabeth Rhinehart finished with two service aces.

Calera defeated host Oak Grove 19-25, 25-16, 15-6 in the semifinals.

Harris led the Eagles with nine kills in the victory. Harris also recorded two blocks in the match.

Kellie Rasmussen finished with four kills and four service aces in the win. Rhinehart posted seven digs.

The Eagles defeated Mortimer Jordan 18-25, 25-17, 15-6 in the tournament.

Harris led Calera with six kills and six blocks in the victory.

Rasmussen led the Eagles with five service aces. Amber Sherman posted three service aces.

Calera topped Leeds 21-25, 25-10, 15-9 in the tournament.

Harris posted a team-high nine kills and one block in the win.

Rhinehart finished with six kills and two service aces. Rasmussen registered four kills and a team-high 29 assists.

The Eagles opened the tournament with a 17-25, 21-25 loss to Pinson Valley.

Harris led Calera with four kills and two service aces in the match. Hollie Brown contributed a team-high four digs.
