Panthers fall in tournament semifinals

The Pelham High School volleyball team fell in the quarterfinals of the Brentwood Invitational tournament Sept. 10 in Brentwood, Tenn.
The Panthers fell to Blessed Trinity (Ga.) 25-23, 22-25, 6-15 in the quarterfinals.
Pelham defeated Siegel (Tenn.) 25-18, 21-25, 16-14 in its first match in the Gold Division tournament.
The Panthers finished with a 4-2 record in pool play at the Invitational.
Pelham opened the tournament with a 25-20, 26-24 win over Riverdale (Tenn.) in its first match. The Panthers defeated Centennial 11-25, 25-20, 15-7 in their second match before topping Brooks 25-20, 22-25, 15-8.
Following a 13-25, 13-25 loss to Woodward (Ga.), the Panthers defeated Hoover 25-15, 25-23 in a pool play match. Pelham closed pool play with a 22-25, 19-25 loss to Independence (Tenn.) in its final match before tournament play.
Seniors Dana Allen and Porsha Tolbert led the Panthers (20-12) with 65 kills and 57 digs each in the tournament.
Allen added six service aces and five blocks.
Junior Bradleigh Smith finished with 32 kills in the tournament. Sophomore Caitland Smith posted 26 kills and a team-high seven blocks.
Sophomore Alison El-Feraly finished with seven service aces and five blocks. Junior Alexis Veal registered a team-high 10 service aces to go along with 51 digs.
Senior Sydney Days contributed a team-high 168 assists. Days also finished with 51 digs.
