Former Eagle ties scoring record at UCLA

Former Oak Mountain High School boys’ soccer standout Chandler Hoffman recently tied a school scoring streak at UCLA seven matches into his sophomore season in Los Angeles, which earned him recognition from across the nation.

Hoffman, who was recently named the College Soccer News’ Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 12-18, scored a goal in a fifth consecutive match for the Bruins, which tied a record held by former UCLA standouts Joe Max-Moore and Billy Thompson. The feat also earned him a nod as the Soccer America Player of the Week.

Hoffman was also named the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week for the second time in his career. Hoffman was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 13-19.

Hoffman was also named the SoccerSavings.com/LA Soccer News College Player of the Week for a second consecutive week.

Hoffman produced a hat trick Sept. 16 to lead the Bruins to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over rival UC Santa Barbara.

Overall, Hoffman has scored seven goals in his last six games for the Bruins and leads the team with 14 points. Hoffman also has an astounding 13 goals in his last 13 games as a Bruin.

Hoffman was also named to Top Drawer Soccer’s Team of the Week after his three goal performance this weekend.
