Falcons sweep Lander University in final home match

The University of Montevallo volleyball team honored its three seniors prior to a 25-13, 25-17, 25-21 sweep of Lander University in the Falcons’ final home match Oct. 15.

Montevallo (9-12 overall, 4-5 in Peach Belt Conference) hit .337 as a team and held the Bearcats to just a .075 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Michelle Carle led the way with 11 kills and five blocks while hitting .364. Redshirt sophomore Manyi Ati provided nine kills and a team-high eight blocks as she hit .750 for the match.

Senior Anna Garrison became just the second player in Montevallo history to reach 4,000 assists since the Falcons joined the NCAA. Garrison, who needed just 23 assists to surpass the 4,000 mark, had 38 assists and nine digs in the victory.

Freshman Michelle Walker and junior Lucy Perez each had seven kills.

Senior libero Rachel Wotitzky led the Falcons in digs with 14 as she inched closer to the 1,000 dig career mark.

Garrison, Wotitzky and Jessica Guidry were honored prior to the match as the Falcons’ three seniors.

The Falcons will be back in action Monday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. as they travel to Augusta State University for a Peach Belt Conference match.
