Montevallo sophomore named volleyball Player of the Week

University of Montevallo sophomore middle hitter Manyi Ati was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week after leading the Falcons to a 1-1 mark in Peach Belt Conference play last week.

Ati was an attack machine as she averaged 3.62 kills per set while hitting .551 in a pair of conference matches.

Ati opened with 20 kills and had only two errors in 37 attacks against USC-Aiken in a five-set loss, hitting .486. Ati then hit .750 with nine kills and no errors in a win over Lander.

The 2010 Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year also added 1.75 blocks per set with eight total blocks against Lander. Ati also added seven digs against USC-Aiken. Ati is sixth in the conference in kills and kills per set, third in hitting percentage and fifth in solo blocks.

Ati and the rest of the Falcons return to action Friday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. as they travel to Lander University to take on Erskine in a neutral-site match.
