Montevallo senior earns conference volleyball honor

University of Montevallo senior libero Rachel Wotitzky was named the Peach Belt Conference Specialist of the Week after helping the Falcons capture three wins this past week.
Wotitzky, a Punta Gorde, Fla. native, was unstoppable at libero as she averaged 7.42 digs per set.
Wotitzky started the week with 19 digs on the road at Augusta State University, then had 19 digs against Erskine College in a neutral-site match. She followed that up with a record-breaking 31 digs on the road at Limestone College.
Wotitzky has now broken the Montevallo record for digs in a three-game match three times this season. She had 20 digs against Lenoir-Rhyne to finish off four matches with 89 digs. Wotitzky currently ranks seventh in career digs at Montevallo and third in the Peach Belt Conference for digs per set this season.
Wotitzky and the rest of the Falcons return to action Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. as they travel to Stillman College for a non-conference match.
