FROM STAFF REPORTS

The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team is ranked fourth in the most recent U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Region poll, which was released Oct. 26.

Despite the Falcons title at the Peach Belt Conference championship meet last week and edging the second-ranked team in the poll, Mount Olive College, two weekends ago at the Queens University of Charlotte Royal Cross Country Challenge, the Falcons remain in the fourth slot.

Montevallo is the highest ranked Peach Belt Conference team in the poll.

The Falcons are one of just four Peach Belt Conference teams ranked in the poll. Conference foe Clayton State is ranked seventh, while Augusta State and UNC-Pembroke sit in ninth and 10th, respectively. The top-ranked team in the poll remains Queens.

The top two teams at the NCAA Southeast Region championship meet automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships.

The Falcons return to action Saturday, Nov. 5 as they compete in the NCAA Southeast Region Championship.
