Lions advance to AISA Final Four

Kingwood Christian School advanced to the Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 2A Final Four following a runner-up finish in a Class 2A region tournament Oct. 24 at Prattville Christian Academy.
Kingwood Christian will meet Macon East Academy in a semifinal match Oct. 29 in the Class 2A state tournament at Faulkner University in Montgomery.
The Lions (23-10) fell to host Prattville Christian 20-25, 18-25, 19-25 in the region tournament championship match.
Senior Katie McElroy led Kingwood Christian with six kills and six service aces in the match.
Junior Casey Whitmer added four kills and three blocks. Senior Karley Chamblee contributed two service aces and a team-high seven assists.
Kingwood Christian defeated Southern Academy 15-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-25, 15-13 in the region tournament semifinals.
Whitmer led the Lions with nine kills in the victory. Whitmer also posted five service aces and three blocks.
McElroy contributed six kills and six service aces. Chamblee registered a team-high eight service aces and 14 assists.
The Lions opened the region tournament with a 25-14, 25-16, 25-17 win over Tuscaloosa Academy.
