Kingwood Christian School bounced back after a loss in the opening set against Macon-East Montgomery Academy to push the Knights to the limit Oct. 29 in the Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 2A Final Four at Faulkner University in Montgomery.

However, the Lions tank was empty in the fourth set without two starters in the lineup in a 16-25, 25-19, 19-25, 12-25 loss in the Class 2A semifinals.

“We played well,” said Kingwood Christian coach John Jones, “but it just wasn’t our day.”

Junior Casey Whitmer chipped in a team-leading six kills, along with five service aces and four blocks.

Sophomore Madelyn Pearce finished with five kills, four digs and four service aces. Junior Blair Holsombeck finished with two service aces and seven digs in the match.
