Westminster runner claims section title

Westminster School at Oak Mountain senior Adam Dunkerley claimed an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 1A-2A section title Nov. 5 at Sokol Park in Tuscaloosa.
Dunkerley and his Westminster teammates advanced to the AHSAA Class 1A-2A state championship meet Nov. 12 at Indian Mounds Park in Oakville.
Dunkerley’s time of 17:04.20 led second-place finisher Tanner Kelley of American Christian by nearly 20 seconds.
Noah Thompson of Westminster finished 11th overall with his time of 18:13.40. The Knights’ Drew Parker came in 14th overall with his time of 18:31.50. Cole Moffett of Westminster finished 19th overall with his time of 19:12.69.
Morgan Reynolds and Maddie Hoaglund of Westminster each qualified for the AHSAA Class 1A-2A girls’ state championship meet after top 20 finishes at the section meet.
Reynolds finished fourth overall at the section race with her time of 20:56.10. Hoaglund came in 14th overall with her time of 21:58.40.
