Spain Park edges Ramsay in season opener

The Spain Park High School girls’ basketball team edged Ramsay 37-34 in its season-opening game Nov. 8.

Whitney Gulledge led the Jaguars (1-0) with 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the floor, including a 2-of-7 performance from beyond the arc. Gulledge also finished with two rebounds, two assists and a team-high three steals in the victory.

Jessica Freeman added seven points and three rebounds. Ashley Gaston and Kathryn Boswell chipped in six points each. Gaston grabbed four rebounds, while Boswell finished with two rebounds and two assists.

Jasmine Hollis finished with five points and a team-high 13 rebounds in the win. Kelsie Williams finished with one point. Victoria Baldwin grabbed four rebounds.

BOYS

The Spain Park High School boys’ basketball team fell to Ramsay 48-42 in its season opener Nov. 8.

Blake Dudchock led the Jaguars (0-1) with eight points in the loss. Dudchock also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds.

The game marked the debut for first-year coach Neal Barker.
