Locals fulfill dreams in signing period

Several high school student-athletes in Shelby County fulfilled their dreams this week during the NCAA early signing period.
Three Pelham High School baseball players continued the pipeline of recent Panthers who have earned college scholarships to Division I universities during a signing ceremony Nov. 10 in the school cafeteria.
Pelham senior infielder/pitcher Parker Curry signed with Samford University. Senior outfielder Ty Pierce signed with Jacksonville State University, where he will join former Panthers Andrew and Michael Bishop. Senior infielder/pitcher Hunter Soleymani signed with the University of South Alabama.
Chelsea High School senior Caitlin Bice, the reigning Shelby County Reporter Player of the Year, signed a softball scholarship with Samford University. Bice put her signature on the dotted line during a signing ceremony Nov. 10 at the school.
Fellow Chelsea senior Allie Luster signed a softball scholarship with the University of Mobile during a signing ceremony at the school in October.
Thompson High School senior Taylor Powell signed a softball scholarship with Auburn University in Montgomery during a signing ceremony at the school last month.
Fellow Thompson High School senior Rachel Rigney signed a softball scholarship with Troy University during a signing ceremony at the school Nov. 14
Spain Park High School seniors Mikey White and Colton Freeman each signed baseball scholarships with the University of Alabama during the NCAA early signing period. The duo will be recognized during a signing ceremony at the school in February.
Oak Mountain High School senior David Dahl signed a baseball scholarship with Auburn University during the early signing period.
