Manhunt on for burglary suspect

INVERNESS – The Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a burglary suspect in the Inverness area of U.S. 280.

According to a release from the sheriff’s office, Shelby County 911 received a call at about 12:50 p.m. from a homeowner in a residence at the 10000 block of Chelsea Road reporting a burglary in process.

“A few minutes later, Shelby County deputies observed a vehicle matching the description of the one given by the homeowner in close proximity to the victim’s residence,” the release stated.

The deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects failed to yield to the deputies. The deputies pursued the suspects in their vehicle to the Inverness area of U.S. 280, where the suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot.

According to the release, sheriff’s deputies apprehended two of the suspects, and they currently are in custody.

Shelby County deputies along with Hoover and Birmingham police officers, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies and members of the U.S. Marshals’ Task Force are currently seeking the other suspect.

Citizens in the Inverness area of Hwy 280 are urged to use caution and immediately call 911 if they observe anything unusual. The remaining suspect at large may be armed, the release stated.
