The Calera High School boys’ basketball team defeated Tarrant 92-43 in its season opener Nov. 18.

The Eagles outscored Tarrant 34-9 in the first quarter and held a 53-15 advantage at halftime in the victory.

Deondre Haynes led Calera (1-0) with 26 points in the win. Haynes also dished out a team-high seven assists.

Jordan Bishop added 17 points. Jeremy Hyde chipped in 16 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.

Ronnie Clark finished with 12 points in the victory.

GIRLS

The Calera High School girls’ basketball team defeated Tarrant 43-37 in its season opener Nov. 18.

Tyesha Haynes and Perri Duncan led the Eagles (1-0) with 13 points each in the victory.
