Kingwood Christian tops East Memorial in tournament

The Kingwood Christian School boys’ basketball team defeated East Memorial Christian Academy 66-58 in its opener Nov. 17 in the Prattville Christian Academy tournament.
Junior guard Andrew Whitfield led the Lions (2-0) with 23 points, including six 3-pointers. Junior Daniel Fillingim added 13 points and a team-high 11 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
Down five points at the half, the Lions outscored the Wildcats 20-12 in the third period led by Whitfield’s three 3-pointers. The Lions never relinquished the lead after shooting 72 percent from inside the arch for the game.
GIRLS
The Kingwood Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated East Memorial Christian Academy 46-31 in its opener Nov. 17 in the Prattville Christian Academy tournament.
Sophomore guard Madelyn Pearce led the Lions (2-0) with 17 points in the victory.
Junior point guard Blair Holsombeck and freshman center Katie Etheridge added 12 points and nine rebounds.
