Frederick Austin, 80, of Columbiana passed away on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011. He was born Thursday, Sept. 17, 1931 to the late William Lawson and Ludie Diane Austin. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He finished his tour as Captain in the Army Reserves and was a graduate of Auburn University.

He was preceded in death by his 12 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Gayle H. Austin; his daughter, Angela Thomaston (Andrew); sons, Karl Austin and Glenn Austin (Lydia); step-sons, Damon Folmar (Fran) and Peter Folmar; step-daughters, Elizabeth “Obbie” Burchfield (Donald) and Kristy Franklin (Jake); grandchildren, James “Eric” Frederick Jackson (Karen), Melody Nichole Montgomery, Glenn Stephen Austin (Lindsey), Preston Garrett Austin, Richmond Lawson Austin, Joel Christopher Boothe, Olivia Folmar, Elliott Folmar, Anna Catherine Folmar, Evan Burchfield, John Burchfield, Elijah Folmar, Ethan Folmar, Gideon Franklin, Annalise Franklin and Garbiel; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Jackson, Alloura Jackson,

Alexander “Xander” Jackson and Benjamin Thomas Austin.

The family received friends at the First Baptist Church of Columbiana on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011 at 1 p.m. with a funeral that followed at 2 p.m. at the church. The interment was in the Hand Cemetery.
