Barbara Jean Simmons of Randolph died Nov. 26, 2011, at the age of 62. She was born January 10, 1949 in Birmingham and moved to Memphis, Tenn., in 1958. She graduated from White Station High School in Memphis in 1969. She moved to Birmingham in 1980 where she raised her two children, Scott and Wesley. She was a wonderful wife to her husband, Don, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She spent her life showing others how to love unconditionally.

She is survived by her husband, Don Simmons of Randolph; children, William Scott Brakefield (Michelle) of Alabaster and Wesley Stuart Brakefield of Vestavia; mother, Earline Snedden Patterson of Memphis, Tenn.; sister, Margaret Patterson Donato of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, Pat Patterson (Elise) and David Patterson of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Alex Gravitt, Noah, Shep and Wynn Brakefield and Haiden and Sissy Simmons. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Gilmore Patterson, and her stepson, Sammy Simmons.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Rockco’s Funeral Home in Centreville. The funeral service will be Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. also at Rockco’s with burial at Pineland Memorial Park in Centreville.
