Warriors win three matches at Old Timer’s Cup

The Thompson High School wrestling squad won three matches Dec. 3 in the Od Timer’s Cup in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Warriors defeated McCallie (Tenn.), Ringgold (Ga.) and Woodland (Ga.) at the event, while also dropping a match to Soddy Daisy (Tenn.)

Thompson defeated McCallie (Tenn.) 52-11. Ten Warriors won their individual matches against McCallie.

Conner Gilson of Thompson earned a 6-2 decision over James Westbrook of McCallie 5-2 in the 106-pound match. Reed Jacks of Thompson pinned Addison Connell of McCallie in 5:00 in the 120-pound match.

Mario Haynes of Thompson earned a 16-0 technical fall against Griffin Davis of McCallie in the 126-pound match. Christopher Lloyd of Thompson earned a 7-1 decision over Alex Kent of McCallie in the 145-pound match.

Nick Hall of Thompson earned a 16-0 technical fall against Austin Halleron of McCallie in the 152-pound match. John Austin (J.A.) Jones pinned Calum McCroskey of McCallie in 1:00 in the 160-pound match.

Jesse Masters of Thompson pinned Nathan Hoodenpyle of McCallie in the 182-pound match. Clay Anthony, David Capers and Hunter Pinneo each won their matches by forfeit.

Thompson defeated Ringgold (Ga.) 58-3 in the meet. Gilson, Anthony, Jacks, Haynes, Hayden Franklin, Brewer Gilliland, Lloyd, Nick Hall, Jones, Cahman Holder, Masters and Pinneo each won matches against Ringgold.

The Warriors fell to Soddy Daisy (Tenn.) 44-23 in the meet. Five Thompson wrestlers won their matches against Soddy Daisy, including Gilson, Jacks, Jones, Holder and Masters.
