Spain Park, Oak Mountain wrestlers compete in Georgia duals

The Spain Park High School and Oak Mountain High School wrestling teams traveled to Lawrenceville, Ga., to compete Dec. 10 in the Takedown Sportswear Super Duals at Archer High School.

In its first match of pool competition, Spain Park defeated Grayson (Ga.) 39-37. The Jags lost their second match to Bradley Central (Tenn.) 51-26. In the third match, Spain Park lost to Peach Tree Ridge (Ga.) 45-27. The Jags finished third in their pool, defeating Mill Creek (Ga.) 42-33.

Oak Mountain lost its first pool match to Roswell (Ga.) 30-26.  In their second match, the Eagles lost to host Archer (Ga.) 48-21.  Making a comeback, the Eagles defeated their next two opponents, Hillgrove (Ga.) 45-32 and West Forsythe (Ga.) 42-30. Oak Mountain also finished third in its pool.

In cross-pool competition, the Jags and Eagles should have met, but the coaches asked that they be able to wrestle the second-place finishers in the opposite pools.

Spain Park lost to Roswell (Ga.) 41-24, while Oak Mountain lost to Peach Tree Ridge (Ga.) 41-33.

Undefeated wrestlers for Spain Park were Tommy Bostany, who finished with four pins and one technical fall in the 120-pound bracket, Kameron Ricks, who finished with three pins, a decision and a forfeit in the 195-pound bracket, and Mo Mills, who finished with three pins, one decision and a forfeit in the 220-pound bracket.

For Oak Mountain, Justin Woodall finished undefeated in the 195-pound bracket with three pins and one technical fall.
