Dear Editor,

I am writing concerning the extreme wait time at one of our railroad crossings here in Shelby County.

The crossing on County Road 17 in Maylene is blocked by a stopped train for excessive time periods. This happens weekly.

One recent Sunday, I waited 34 minutes. There was a police car two cars behind me waiting, so I thought he might be able to speed things up. But it didn’t happen.

What can we do as citizens to improve this?
