The Coosa Valley Academy girls’ basketball team defeated Bessemer Academy 61-35 in its opening game in the Autauga Academy Christmas tournament Dec. 16.

Amelia Ripley led the Rebels (6-2) with 18 points in the victory.

Lauren Archer and Kaylan Rich added 10 points each. Archer finished with eight rebounds, six steals and four assists. Rich grabbed six boards.

Amber Bassett chipped in six points and five rebounds. Terrie Sprayberry finished with five points and five boards. Samantha Baker contributed four points, six rebounds and three steals.

Carlee Yarnell, Hannah Heath, Holly Dunn and Kayla Shaw finished with two points each. Yarnell and Dunn grabbed five rebounds each.
