Evangel Christian tops East Central

The Evangel Christian School girls’ basketball team jumped out to a 17-0 lead after the first quarter on the road at East Central of Moody and held on for a 57-31win Dec. 17.

The Lightning improved to 6-1 on the season, including a league best 4-0 mark in the Alabama Christian Sports Conference.

Junior Lacey Entrekin led the way for Evangel Christian, scoring 17 points and pulling down nine rebounds.

Junior Bethany Letson added 15 points, all in the second half, including 4-of-6 shots from behind the 3-point line.  Freshman Whitney Thorpe also contributed 14 points and eight rebounds for the Lightning.

BOYS

The Evangel Christian School boys’ basketball team defeated East Central 84-23 in high school basketball action Dec. 17.

Dajon Townson led the Lightning (9-0) with 20 points in the victory.

Judson Motes added 17 points. Aaron Walker contributed 12 points, eight rebounds and eight steals in the win.
