Jags finish runner-up in Holiday Invitational

The Spain Park High School boys’ indoor track and field team finished runner-up Holiday Invitational meet Dec. 17 at the Crossplex in Birmingham.

Two Jaguars claimed individual championships at the Invitational.

Joseph Williams of Spain Park claimed the boys’ shot put title with his toss of 56 feet, 1.75 inches.

Brandon Hazouri of Spain Park won the boys’ 1600-meter run with his time of 4:28.35.

Oak Mountain finished 18th in the boys’ team standings. Jakaryus Redwine led the Eagles after finishing third overall in the boys’ 60-meter dash with his time of 7.10 seconds.

The Spain Park High School girls’ indoor track and field title finished 11th in team standings.

Simone Charley led the Jaguars with two individual championships.

Charley captured the girls’ long jump title with her leap of 17 feet, 9.25 inches. Charley also won the girls’ triple jump competition with her jump of 39 feet, 4.5 inches.

Pelham finished 12th overall in the girls’ team standings. Caitland Smith led the Panthers after winning the girls’ 60-meter dash with her time of 7.86 seconds.

Thompson finished 16th in the girls’ team standings. Briarwood Christian came in 23rd overall in girls’ team standings.
