HOOVER — The Hoover Fire and Police Department’s Tactical Medic Team received more than $19,000 worth of life-saving equipment Jan. 5.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation donated the equipment.

The donation was made possible through a disaster relief round-up campaign, a national fundraiser that allowed Firehouse Subs customers the opportunity to round up their bills to the nearest dollar.

The money made from the campaign benefited first responders and survivors of the April 2011 tornado devastation throughout the Southeast.
