Lions fall to Tuscaloosa Academy

The Kingwood Christian School boys’ basketball team fell to Tuscaloosa Academy 51-43 in an Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 3A, Area 2 contest Jan. 6.
Josh Purvis led the Lions (5-8 overall, 0-1 in AISA Class 3A, Area 2) with 15 points.
Daniel Fillingim registered a double-double after adding 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Jordan Vance chipped in seven points.
Jacob Bussey contributed five points and seven rebounds. Andrew Whitfield finished with three points. Jared Stewart contributed two points.
GIRLS
The Kingwood Christian School girls’ basketball team fell to Tuscaloosa Academy 35-31 in an Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 3A, Area 2 contest Jan. 6.
Madelyn Pearce and Katie Etheridge led the Lions (3-10 overall, 0-1 in AISA Class 3A, Area 2) with 10 points each.
Etheridge posted a double-double after pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds.
Blair Holsombeck added six points and five rebounds. Casey Whitmer contributed five points, seven rebounds and four steals.
