Fighting Gerbils torch Blazers in youth basketball action

Complete results from week five of the Shelby County Youth Basketball League.

DIVISION 3

·                     The Fighting Gerbils torched the Blazers, 35 to 25. The Fighting Gerbils were led by Trent Sullivan with 15 and E.J. Johnson added 10 points. The Blazers leaders were Will Morris with 10 and Jacob Walton scored 6 points.

·                     The Runnin’ Rebels banked the Swish, 22 to 14. The Runnin’ Rebels were led by Matthew Prosser with 12 points, Andrew West had 9 rebounds, Camden Roulier played tough defense, Caleb Jinright hustled, and Charlie Taylor showed good effort. The Swish was led by Mitchell Kines with 6 points, Austin Lucas was responsible for 14 rebounds, Quadarris Sawyer played hard on both ends of the court, and Deonta Cotton added valuable minutes.

·                     The Rough Riders cooled the Heat, 25 to 14. The Rough Riders were led by Chip Nash with 7 points, Mitch Nash was the top rebounder, Bailey Deshazo played well defensively, and everyone on the team scored. The Heat was led by Chadwyn Russ with 6 points and Colby Blythe added 3.

·                     The Terminators charged the Lightning for a 36 to 24 victory. The Terminators were led by J.C. Parker with 16 points. Conner Davis added 8 points. Leading scorers for the Lightning were Drake Carden and Nathan Bates with 8 points each

DIVISION 1

·         The Sharks attacked the Falcons for a 22 to 13 victory. The Sharks were led by Christopher Brasher with 10 points, Austin Wilson had 6 rebounds, Jace Bolin was a defensive stopper, and the entire team played hard and showed great effort. The Falcons were led by Grant Gurganus with 4 points. Andrew Whitner and Delaina Johnson added 3 points each.

·         The Eagles doubled up the Road Runners, 20 to 10. The Eagles were led by Jaxson Stinson and Cason Jefferies with 5 points each, Paci Clark was the defensive star, with Blake Jennings and Jonah Pennington adding valuable minutes. The Road Runners were led by Cooper Bentley with 4 points, Savannah Franklin was the top rebounder, Bella Guy played well on defense, with Caleb Mooney and Walker Kellis hustling and showing great effort.

DIVISION 5

·         Chaos rolled over Whatchamacallitz, 36 to 20. Chaos was led by Anna Goodwin with 19 points. Janie Pennington scored 8 with Zoey Jones adding 7 points. Whatchamacallitz was led by Dayli Wood and Gracie Driskell with 6 points each, Aubree Wilson was the top rebounder, and Anna Martin played well defensively.

·         The Honey Badgers defused the Dynamite, 27 to 15. The Honey Badgers were led by Maggie West with 10 points, Peri Clark had 7 rebounds, Natalay Whitner was a defensive stopper, with Aleah Reed and Cailyn Ingram adding valuable minutes. The Dynamite was led by Madison Purcell with 10 points, Laurel Pierce led in rebounds, Annika Walker played well defensively, Hannah Moore hustled, and Jalyn Jones showed good effort.

 

 

DIVISION 2

·         The Firedogs burned the Heat, 26 to 17. The Firedogs were led by Andrew Gothard and Riley Lewter with 9 points each. Matthew Crittenden added 5 points. The Heat was led by Lars Belfanz with 9 points and 7 rebounds, Coleman Byers had 5 steals, Eli Jones picked up 2 assists, and Matthew Pearson showed good effort.

·         The Bulldogs bit the Gunners, 38 to 17. The Bulldogs leading scorers were Chase Jones (14), Kaden Cardwell (9), and David Vick (8). Joel Pennington and Chase Newman anchored the defense. The Gunners were led by Conner Aderholt with 7 points, J.T. Pennington had 7 rebounds, with Dylan Wilson and Collin Jennings providing valuable playing time.

·         The Sweet Heat edged the Blazers, 24 to 22. The Sweet Heat was led by Aaliyah Cotton with 10 points, Max Kearley and Tanner Roland led in rebounds, Skye Lilly was the defensive star, Colt Hardin hustled, and Emmalee Smith showed good effort. The Blazers were led by Jordan Morris with 15 points. Landon Lawrence added 3 points.

DIVISION 6

·         The Fireballs exploded the Hobo Thunder, 31 to 13. The Fireballs were led by Sarah Goodwin with 12 points, Alex Reed had 4 rebounds, Sarah Head played well defensively, and Charley Clark had 6 steals.

·         Frostie’s Shakes shook the Swish, 14 to 10. The Shakes were led by Beth Upton with 8 points, Katelyn Bevard and Jordan Price had 8 rebounds each, Summer Knight had 2 assists, and Anna Wood added valuable minutes.
