Jaguars top Hornets in wrestling match

The Spain Park High School wrestling team defeated Chelsea 66-18 in high school wrestling action Jan. 10.

Eleven Jaguars won individual matches against Chelsea.

Tommie Broadwater of Spain Park pinned Austin Chadwick of Chelsea in 56 seconds in the 138-pound match. Marcus Jackson of Spain Park pinned Josh Templeton of Chelsea in 2:53 in the 145-pound match.

Dillon Osborne of Spain Park pinned Chandler Wood of Chelsea in 1:18 in the 152-pound match. Elijah Krukowski of Spain Park won his 106-pound match by forfeit.

Jackson Cotney of Spain Park won his 113-pound match by forfeit. Tommy Bostany of Spain Park won his 120-pound match by forfeit. Andres Galindo of Spain Park won his 126-pound match by forfeit.

Connor Whatley of Spain Park won his 132-pound match by forfeit. Blake Daniel of Spain Park won his 170-pound match by forfeit.

Kameron Ricks of Spain Park won his 195-pound match by forfeit. Mo Mills of Spain Park won his 220-pound match by forfeit.

Three Chelsea wrestlers won individual matches against Spain Park.

John Dowd of Chelsea pinned Qua Thompson of Spain Park in 5:36 in the 160-pound match. Zakary Van Der Geest of Chelsea pinned Alex Potts of Spain Park in 1:50 in the 182-pound match.

David Downard of Chelsea pinned Zachary Williams of Spain Park in 1:00 in the heavyweight match.

Spain Park defeated Southside-Gadsden 42-23. Five Jaguars won individual matches against Southside.

Krukowski earned a 7-3 decision over Zach Christopher of Southside in the 106-pound match. Bostany earned a 16-0 technical fall over Gabe Gilbert of Southside in the 120-pound match.

Ricks earned an 8-3 decision over Skylar Stephens of Southside in the 195-pound match. Mills pinned Wesley Butler of Southside in 3:40 in the 220-pound match.

Williams won his heavyweight match by forfeit.

Chelsea fell to Southside-Gadsden 72-6.

Downard won his heavyweight match by forfeit to account for the Hornets’ lone points in the match.
